Psychotherapy In Beverly Hills, Los Angeles & Across California
Psychotherapy In Beverly Hills, Los Angeles & Across California
Welcome. I’m Dr. Sandra Cohen, a licensed psychologist in the state of California with a long-standing practice in Beverly Hills. Because of COVID-19, I see patients for teletherapy across California and have openings in my practice today if you’re seeking help.
But, before we get there, let’s see if I’m a good fit for you.
Ask Yourself What You’re Seeking Psychological Help For…
I have worked as a therapist for over 35 years. My practice has been in Beverly Hills almost that entire time, so I’m deeply invested in this community and understand the stressful nature of a southern California lifestyle.
Patients typically seek help from me when they enter a time in their lives when their anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or some kind of transition has reached a peak and they cannot manage the intensity of their feelings alone. It’s also very common for clients to seek psychological support when they reach a crossroads in their lives.
As a trained psychologist and psychoanalyst in Beverly Hills, I am able to help patients find a path ahead that resolves their anxiety and stress. We look to the past to understand why the present is so painful. From there, solutions to move on with your life are easier to find.
How Does Psychotherapy Work?
Psychotherapy in my practice involves meeting weekly. For deeper work, it’s common to meet more than once a week as desired. During our time together, we explore where your anxiety stems from and how we can activate your resources to resolve it.
Psychotherapy provides lasting change and isn’t a quick fix. You and I will determine the length of time you need as we go along. It all depends on how challenging your situation is for you.
Psychotherapy can be done effectively via teletherapy or in-person. That said, due to COVID-19, I am seeing clients exclusively either by telephone or HIPAA-compliant video software. Our sessions are both confidential and effective. Visit this page to learn more about teletherapy options in Beverly Hills and across California.
What Should You Expect From Our Sessions?
During our time together, we will meet for 50 minutes per session. There is no need to prepare for our sessions, we will explore whatever challenges are on your mind. For my part, I will work actively with you to reduce your anxiety, feelings of sadness, and depression and on helping you create the life you desire.
The COVID pandemic has brought up many emotional experiences for people including fears for the future, past traumas that are still unresolved, sadness and depression about the loss of a job, financial fears, and deep feelings of uncertainty about the future. If these challenges are keeping you up at night, this is a great place to start so you can gain some relief from these worries and get back to your life.
What Are My Areas Of Psychological Expertise?
Over the years I have developed many areas of expertise. I am trained in healing trauma and all of the emotional entanglements that come from a traumatic childhood or past.
But, there is much more to my practice and a shortlist of areas I can help you with are:
Childhood Trauma
Sexual Abuse
Borderline Personality Disorder
Panic Attacks
Anxiety
Persistent Depression
Obsessional Worry
Eating Disorders
Creative Blocks
Relationship Fears
Intimacy Problems
Is This A Good Time In Your Life For Counseling?
My answer to this question falls into 3 buckets:
One: When you’re aware that your psychological struggles, depression, or anxiety are too much to handle on your own, that’s a sign it’s time for therapy.
Two: If you have an hour (or more) a week and really want to change your life, that’s a sign it’s time for therapy.
Three: When you feel called to live a healthier life, that’s a sign it’s time for therapy.
Knowing it’s the right time to get help doesn’t require saying yes to more than one item on this list. But, perhaps there’s also this: if you have considered therapy and not taken a step, then now is likely your time. Many people think about getting psychotherapy for too long before they actually do, wasting months, even years, of their lives feeling sad, worried, depressed, anxious, isolated, and alone.
This is not necessary.
Sometimes it feels hard to ask for help, but if you want a better life, you can do something about it. I am here to help you change the place you’re in right now. All you have to do is ask.
How Can You Get Started With Psychotherapy Services?
My practice is in Beverly Hills, California and I use teletherapy services to see clients across the state. From San Diego to Los Angeles to San Francisco, CA clients bring different issues and require different commitments of time in therapy.
I offer individual psychotherapy and psychoanalysis to patients across California in this special teletherapy format. We use a secure video link (or telephone if you prefer) that enables me to help clients across the state of California as my license extends beyond the city of Beverly Hills into all cities in the state.
A note about psychoanalysis. Many question if it’s the typical Freudian “lay on the couch and tell me about your mother” experience they see in the movies. I want to tell you that it’s a whole lot more than that. If you’re curious about psychoanalysis and what is involved in this specialized experience, you can read more about psychoanalysis with me here.
